New Research Paper for the Redox Biology Journal

19/5/2017

Our project coordinators Prof. Kristian Berg and Dr. Theodossis A. Theodossiou contributed to a new research paper on “the diverse roles of glutathione-associated cell resistance against hypericin photodynamic therapy”, which will be featured in the August issue of the Redox Biology Journal.
The paper is already available online for you to read!

The diverse responses of different cancers to treatments such as photodynamic therapy of cancer (PDT) have fuelled a growing need for reliable predictive markers for treatment outcome. In the present work the differential response of two phenotypically and genotypically different breast adenocarcinoma cell lines, MCF7 and MDA-MB-231, to hypericin PDT (HYP-PDT) have been studied.
As a conclusion, they have shown that the different GSH based cell defence mechanisms can be utilised as predictive markers for the outcome of PDT and as a guide for selecting optimal combination strategies.
