The School of Pharmacy at UiO is one of three institutions in Norway that offers a master program in Pharmacy. The School of Pharmacy has 120 employees and approx. 350 students. The average annual number of candidates that is granted a master degree is 60 and on average 20 that get a PhD. The School of Pharmacy is divided into 3 sections; Dept. of Pharmaceutical Biosciences, Dept. of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Dept. of Pharmaceutics. The latter is divided into 4 research groups; 2 in social pharmacy and 2 in pharmaceutics (PharmaLuxLab and SiteDel). The PharmaLuxLab research group consists at present of 3 professors, 1 professor II, 1 professor emeritus, 1.5 technicians, 4 Ph.D students, 3 master students and 1 Erasmus student. PharmaLuxLab has specialized in the combination of nanovehicles, polymers and light activation for delivery of drugs, primarily to be applied in antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT). The research group leader has been working within the field of drugs and light since 1983.
